Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday that his country has signed international deals to supply doses of its COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V to some 700 million people.
Putin also spoke about the need to ramp up production of vaccines for use domestically, where he said 4.3 million people had received both necessary doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Russia had said in January it would start clinical trials for a slimmed down version of the vaccine and on Monday, the health minister announced those trials were completed for a one-shot vaccine.
The one-dose version is seen as a “temporary” solution to help countries with higher infection rates.
